Your carbide has a number in Gurugram.

We show you how we get it.

Every worn insert, broken drill and press-tool die in your bin carries tungsten. Most buyers quote a flat rate off a WhatsApp photo. We weigh it in front of you, grade it by carbide content, and show the math before we pay — same visit.

PRICING, EXPLAINED

What actually sets your price

Not a slogan — the three variables that move the number up or down before we ever quote you one.
01 / TUNGSTEN CONTENT

Solid vs. mixed lots

An indexable insert or solid end mill is close to pure tungsten carbide and prices near the top of the range. Grinding sludge and mixed floor-sweep from a tool room run lower — we price that as its own lot rather than blending it into your clean material’s rate.

02 / COBALT BINDER

The metal holding it together

Cutting-grade carbide typically carries 6–12% cobalt as a binder. Cobalt trades on its own market, so the binder ratio genuinely changes what a lot is worth — a press die doesn’t price the same as a drill insert even at the same weight.

03 / WHAT’S ATTACHED

Steel shanks, dies and mountings

Brazed tooling — a carbide tip fixed to a steel shank, die body or holder — gets weighed whole, then separated on-site so the recoverable carbide is priced on its own. We show that split on the ticket before you agree to anything.

MARKET MECHANICS

Why the rate changes week to week

Tungsten carbide isn’t priced off a fixed scrap-yard rate card. The tungsten in your inserts and dies trades on its own international market, tracked through tungsten concentrate and APT (ammonium paratungstate) pricing, and that market moves on its own schedule — independent of what ordinary steel scrap is doing locally. When APT moves internationally, the rate we can offer moves within days.

That’s also why a flat, unchanging quote from a general scrap dealer is worth questioning. Either the material isn’t being graded by actual tungsten and cobalt content, or the buyer isn’t tracking the international market closely enough to reprice you fairly. We reassess most weekdays — the same discipline behind WolfTrack, our tungsten market intelligence desk publishing a weekly price brief and the India Tungsten Transaction Price Index for traders who need to track this market rather than sell into it once.

SELF-CHECK

Know what's in your bin before you call

Carbide behaves differently from ordinary steel scrap — here’s what to look for, and the common forms we buy.
Typical density~14–15 g/cm³
FeelHeavier than its size suggests
Magnetic responseWeak to slight
ColourGrey to grey-black, matte finish
Common binderCobalt, ~6–12% by grade
  • Indexable inserts & tipsThe most common lot from CNC and VMC tool rooms — small, uniform, and usually the highest per-kg value in a mixed lot.
  • Solid carbide rods, drills & end millsFull-carbide, no separation needed — priced highest per kg of any form we buy.
  • Press-tool & auto-component diesCarbide-tipped punches and forming dies from Manesar’s auto-component units — typically brazed, separated on-site before weighing.
  • Brazed tool bits & die insertsCarbide fixed to a steel shank or die body — separated on-site before either portion is weighed.
COVERAGE

Where we pick up, and why

Gurugram’s industrial map runs from Udyog Vihar to Manesar and beyond — each belt feeds us a different kind of scrap.
UDYOG VIHAR (PHASE I–V)
Gurugram’s original industrial belt — over a thousand units across five phases. Increasingly mixed with IT and commercial offices, but light engineering, auto-ancillary and garment-export units still run tool rooms here. We grade what’s actually left, not what the belt used to be.
IMT MANESAR
The region’s heavy-engineering and auto-component core, anchored by large OEM plants and their supplier ecosystem. Dense CNC and press-tool activity means our steadiest, highest-volume pickups — solid inserts, end mills and carbide-tipped dies.
KADIPUR INDUSTRIAL AREA (SECTOR 37C)
An established engineering and industrial pocket close to the city core. Steady mid-size tool-room volume — inserts and brazed tooling from job-work and fabrication units.
BINOLA INDUSTRIAL AREA
Home to large auto-ancillary manufacturing on the Gurugram–Manesar corridor. Press-tool dies and carbide-tipped punches from automotive component lines are the typical lot here.
SOHNA / IMT SOHNA
The newer industrial belt further south. Still building out, so volume per pickup is lower than Manesar — we say so upfront rather than promising more than the belt currently supports.
WHY SELL LOCALLY

Why sell here instead of shipping it to Delhi or Mumbai

Carbide scrap is dense and low-volume for its value, which makes an out-of-town dealer’s quoted rate look tempting on paper. In practice, three things usually erase that difference: transport cost and risk on a dense material that’s easy to shortweight in transit, a re-weighing dispute at the far end you can’t contest in person, and a payment cycle measured in days instead of the same visit. Weighing and grading in front of you removes all three — the number you see is the number you get paid.

QUESTIONS

Before you call

All of it — Udyog Vihar (Phase I–V), IMT Manesar, Kadipur Industrial Area, Binola, and Sohna/IMT Sohna. Call first for lots outside these established belts and we’ll route a pickup.
Yes. Carbide-tipped punches and forming dies are weighed whole, then the carbide is separated from the steel die body on-site so it’s priced on what it actually recovers, not the gross weight.
Yes, the engineering and auto-ancillary units still running tool rooms across the five phases are a regular route for us, even as the belt shifts toward IT and commercial space.
30 kg minimum for a factory or workshop pickup across Gurugram. Below that, call first — we’ll advise whether it’s worth a dedicated visit or better clubbed with your next lot.
Against international tungsten and APT (ammonium paratungstate) market movement, reassessed most weekdays — not a number we hold flat for months while the market moves under it.
Cash, UPI, or bank transfer — your choice, settled before the material leaves your premises.
FOR TRADERS, NOT JUST SELLERS

WolfTrack — India's tungsten price desk

If you’re buying or trading carbide and tungsten scrap in volume rather than selling it off once, WolfTrack’s weekly brief and the India Tungsten Transaction Price Index track the market before it moves. Rs 499/month.
FOR DEALERS & BULK BUYERS

Run a scrap trading business yourself?

We work with a network of dealers and volume buyers across the NCR belt. If there’s a lot we can’t service directly, or you want a standing supply arrangement, this is worth a direct conversation.
TRACK RECORD

Buying carbide scrap across Gurugram since 2018

The operating model hasn’t changed since we started: weigh on-site, grade by actual tungsten and cobalt content, show the math, pay before the material leaves your premises. No back-room weighing, no take-it-or-leave-it flat rate. The same pricing discipline — tracking the international tungsten market rather than holding a rate flat for months — is what now feeds WolfTrack’s weekly price brief and India’s tungsten transaction price index.
