Your carbide has a number in Rudrapur.

We show you how we get it.

Every worn insert, broken drill and dead die in your bin carries tungsten. Most buyers quote a flat rate off a WhatsApp photo and move on. We weigh it in front of you, grade it by carbide content, and show the math before we pay — same visit.

What actually sets your price

Not a slogan — the three variables that move the number up or down before we ever quote you one.
01 / TUNGSTEN CONTENT

Solid inserts vs. mixed scrap

A clean indexable insert or solid end mill is close to pure tungsten carbide. Grinding sludge, swarf and mixed tool-room floor sweep run lower — they’re priced as a separate lot, not blended into your clean material’s rate.

02 / COBALT BINDER

The metal holding it together

Cutting-grade carbide is commonly bonded with roughly 6–12% cobalt. Cobalt has its own market value, so grade matters — a die or punch with a different binder ratio doesn’t price the same as a drill insert.

03 / WHAT’S ATTACHED

Steel shanks and coating

Brazed tooling — a carbide tip on a steel shank — is weighed, then the recoverable carbide is separated and priced on its own. We show you that split on the ticket, not after you’ve left.

MARKET MECHANICS

How the price actually moves week to week

Tungsten carbide scrap isn’t priced off a fixed local rate card the way ordinary steel scrap often is. The tungsten content in your inserts, drills, or dies has its own international market — tracked through tungsten concentrate and APT (ammonium paratungstate) pricing — and that market moves independently of what’s happening in the Indian steel scrap trade. When APT prices move internationally, the rate we can offer for carbide scrap moves within days, sometimes before local competitors have adjusted.

This is also why a flat “₹X per kg for all carbide” quote from a generic scrap dealer should make you cautious. It usually means one of two things: either they’re not actually grading your material by tungsten and cobalt content, or they’re not tracking the international market closely enough to know what the material is worth this week. We reassess our rate against the international market most weekdays — the same discipline behind WolfTrack, our tungsten market intelligence desk that publishes a weekly price brief and India’s transaction price index for traders and volume buyers who track this market rather than sell into it once.

SELF-CHECK

Know what's in your bin before you call

Carbide behaves differently from ordinary steel scrap — here’s what to look for, and the common forms we buy.
Typical density~14–15 g/cm³
FeelHeavier than its size suggests
Magnetic responseWeak to slight
ColourGrey to grey-black, matte finish
Common binderCobalt, ~6–12% by grade
  • Indexable inserts & tipsThe most common lot we see, from CNC, VMC and lathe tooling. Small, uniform pieces with minimal contamination — usually the highest per-kg value in a mixed lot.
  • Solid carbide rods, drills & end millsFull-carbide construction with no steel or binder to separate — priced highest per kg of any form we buy. Broken or worn drill bits and end mills from a tool room fall here.
  • Brazed tool bitsA carbide tip brazed onto a steel shank, common in lathe and shaping tools. We separate the carbide from the steel on-site before weighing either component.
  • Dies, punches & rock-drill buttonsDenser, heavier-duty forms used in stamping, forming and drilling. Graded the same way as smaller tooling — by content, not by assumption.
COVERAGE

Where we pick up, and why

The Rudrapur belt runs on a handful of large OEMs and the ancillary ring around them — each zone feeds us a different kind of scrap.
SIDCUL PANTNAGAR (IIE PANTNAGAR)
Uttarakhand’s flagship industrial estate, adjoining Rudrapur — around 465 operational units anchored by Tata Motors (commercial vehicles), Bajaj Auto, Ashok Leyland and a Mahindra tractor plant. A dense ring of tier-2 and tier-3 component suppliers followed the OEMs in, which is exactly the kind of CNC and press-tool base that generates steady carbide tooling scrap. The district’s own industrial profile flags limited local tool-room capacity here — more reason a buyer who actually grades and weighs on-site is useful rather than optional.
SIDCUL SITARGANJ
A second, smaller SIDCUL estate roughly 25 km from Pantnagar — around 284 operational units, mixed general manufacturing. Lot sizes run smaller and less frequent than Pantnagar, but we route pickups here just as readily.
KASHIPUR
A separate industrial town in the same district with real manufacturing activity, though we don’t have the same estate-level unit figures for it that SIDCUL publishes for Pantnagar and Sitarganj. Call first and we’ll confirm the pickup rather than guess at what’s there.
WHY SELL LOCALLY

Why sell here instead of shipping it to Delhi

Carbide scrap is dense and low-volume relative to its value, which makes it tempting to think a Delhi dealer’s quoted rate is worth the seven-hour haul down from Rudrapur. In practice, three things usually erase that difference: transport cost and risk on a dense material that’s easy to shortweight in transit, a re-weighing dispute at the far end that you can’t contest in person, and a multi-day payment cycle instead of same-visit settlement. Weighing and grading in front of you, at your gate, removes all three variables — the number you see is the number you get paid, the same day.

QUESTIONS

Before you call

SIDCUL Pantnagar and SIDCUL Sitarganj as our steadiest routes, plus Kashipur and the wider Udham Singh Nagar belt on request — call first for anything outside the two SIDCUL estates and we’ll confirm the pickup.
50 kg minimum for a factory or workshop pickup across the Rudrapur belt. Below that, call first — we’ll advise whether it’s worth a dedicated visit or better clubbed with your next lot.
Against international tungsten and APT (ammonium paratungstate) market movement, reassessed most weekdays — not a fixed per-kg number we hold flat for months while the market moves under it.
Yes — a large share of what we pick up in Pantnagar comes from the component-supplier ring around the OEM plants, not the OEMs themselves. GST billing is available for registered firms.
Cash, UPI, or bank transfer — your choice, settled before the material leaves your premises.
FOR TRADERS, NOT JUST SELLERS

WolfTrack — India's tungsten price desk

If you’re buying or trading carbide and tungsten scrap in volume rather than selling it off once, WolfTrack’s weekly brief and the India Tungsten Transaction Price Index track the market before it moves. Rs 499/month.
FOR DEALERS & BULK BUYERS

Run a scrap trading business yourself?

We work with a network of dealers and volume buyers across North India. If there’s a lot we can’t service directly, or you want a standing supply arrangement, this is worth a direct conversation.
TRACK RECORD

Buying carbide scrap in Rudrapur since 2018

The operating model hasn’t changed since we started: weigh on-site, grade by actual tungsten and cobalt content, show the math, pay before the material leaves your premises. No back-room weighing, no take-it-or-leave-it flat rate. The same pricing discipline — tracking the international tungsten market rather than holding a rate flat for months — is what now feeds WolfTrack’s weekly price brief and India’s tungsten transaction price index.
